Youth homelessness is one of the most urgent challenges in Brighton. Young people aged 16–25 are among the most vulnerable — and becoming homeless at a young age can have lifelong consequences. Seaside CIC is committed to supporting young people who are homeless or at risk.
Why Do Young People Become Homeless?
- Family breakdown — the most common reason young people become homeless
- Leaving care — young people leaving the care system at 18 are at very high risk
- Domestic abuse — fleeing abuse from a parent or partner
- Mental health crises — making it impossible to maintain a stable home
The Impact on Young People
Homelessness disrupts education and training, increases risk of exploitation, worsens mental health, and creates long-term difficulties that follow young people into adulthood.
